A permanent offer · Not a sale
On every TV, soundbar, and piece of furniture we sell, we discount your price by an amount equivalent to your Maryland or Virginia state sales tax. That's another ~6% off, on top of our already-low prices. No competitor does this.
The math, in real dollars
Maryland and Virginia both charge ~6% state sales tax. Here's what that saves you on a typical TV purchase:
How it works
It's simpler than you'd think:
You shop normally.
Browse our Samsung TVs, soundbars, and TV furniture in any of our 11 showrooms, on the phone, or online. The price you see is our already-low Samsung-approved price.
We apply the discount.
At checkout, we discount your purchase by an amount equivalent to your state's sales tax rate. The state still collects its tax (we can't change that) — but you don't end up paying it out of pocket.
You pay less.
Your final out-of-pocket cost is the same as if the purchase were tax-free. On a $2,500 TV, that's $150 you keep instead of sending to the state.

Quick answers
Wait, is this a sale?
No. The sales-tax-equivalent discount is permanent on every TV, soundbar, and piece of TV furniture we sell, year-round. We don't run "tax-free events" because it's already always on. The savings stack on top of any Memorial Day, Black Friday, or holiday sale pricing.
So how does it actually work on the receipt?
Maryland and Virginia both require sales tax to be collected and remitted to the state — we can't change that. What we do is discount your purchase by an amount equivalent to your state's sales tax rate. So your receipt will still show a tax line, but the price of the TV will be reduced by the same amount. The end result: your total out-of-pocket cost is the same as if you weren't paying tax.
Does it apply to everything you sell?
Yes — every TV, every soundbar, every piece of TV furniture. Whether you buy online, by phone, or in any of our 11 showrooms.
Does it apply to delivery and installation?
White glove delivery is free on every TV we sell. Installation services that are billed separately are subject to standard tax rules. But the TV itself, soundbar, and any furniture you buy from us — those get the sales tax discount.
What about financing?
The discount applies whether you pay cash, credit, or finance the purchase. Same out-of-pocket savings either way.
Does it work with Memorial Day or other sale pricing?
Yes. The sales tax discount stacks on top of any sale prices. During Memorial Day, Black Friday, or any promotional period, you get the sale price AND the sales-tax-equivalent discount. That's how a 65" Frame at $999 becomes effectively $939 out the door.
Why don't other retailers do this?
Honest answer: it's expensive. The ~6% comes directly out of our margin. Most retailers won't give that up year-round — it's why "no sales tax" promotions are typically reserved for holiday events. We've made it part of how we do business because being the regional Samsung specialist means doing things the big boxes can't or won't.
How long has this been your offer?
Since we opened our doors over 29 years ago. It's been part of how we do business as long as we've been in business.
Save ~6% on every TV we sell. Permanently.
No promo code. No end date. No fine print. Just shop normally and your out-of-pocket cost is reduced by the equivalent of your state's sales tax.
The Big Screen Store provides a discount on every TV, soundbar, and piece of TV furniture sold, equivalent to the Maryland or Virginia state sales tax rate (~6%). The state still collects and is remitted its tax — this is a discount applied to your purchase price, not a tax exemption. The discount is permanent on all eligible items, applies online and in store, and stacks on top of any sale pricing. Installation services billed separately are subject to standard tax rules. Comparison to other retailers reflects standard year-round offerings.
