Samsung S90H vs S95H: Which 2026 OLED Should You Buy?

Samsung's 2026 OLED lineup gave both the S90H and the S95H real upgrades this year — but the two models are aimed at different kinds of buyers. Here's what actually separates them, beyond the spec sheet.

The Short Answer

Both TVs share the same NQ4 AI Gen3 processor, 4K resolution, and up to 165Hz refresh rate. The real difference comes down to panel technology and design:

S95H uses QD-OLED (quantum dot-enhanced) panels in most sizes, delivering noticeably higher peak brightness — up to 2,700 nits — and richer color volume. It also features a flush-mount FloatLayer design and the Art Store, turning the screen into a gallery display when off.
S90H uses standard WOLED panels across the lineup, with Glare Free coating carried over from the flagship. It's the more affordable, more traditionally-designed option — and available in more sizes, including compact 42" and 48" options the S95H doesn't offer.

Picture Quality

This is where the gap is real, not marketing. The S95H's QD-OLED panels push nearly double the HDR highlight brightness of the S90H's WOLED panels. In practice, that means brighter specular highlights — sunlight reflecting off a car hood, a lit-up scoreboard — stand out more sharply on the S95H. Both TVs deliver true OLED blacks and contrast; the difference shows up specifically in bright-room performance and HDR peak moments.

If you watch mostly in a dim or controlled-light room, the S90H's picture will look excellent and the gap will be harder to notice. If your TV room gets real daylight or you want the best possible HDR pop, the S95H's extra brightness matters.

Design and Sound

The S95H is built to be a design statement — a slim, flush-to-wall profile with a premium metal frame, plus the Art Store feature for displaying artwork when the TV isn't in use. Audio is also a step up: a 4.2.2-channel, 70W system with Dolby Atmos.

The S90H keeps things simpler — a slim, traditional design without the gallery focus, and a more modest built-in sound system. Most buyers pairing either TV with a soundbar won't notice much practical difference here.

Gaming

Both models support up to 165Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ Advanced, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, and Nvidia G-Sync, with four HDMI 2.1 ports. Gamers on either model are well covered — this isn't a place where you need to upgrade to the S95H.
