Best overall: Samsung 85" QN80H
The QN80H is the 85-inch TV we recommend most. It's bright enough for a sunny room, handles sports smoothly at 144Hz and costs far less than the Micro RGB and OLED options. If you want one TV that does everything well, start here.
Best picture: Samsung 85" R95H Micro RGB
The R95H is Samsung's flagship Micro RGB TV. Tiny red, green and blue LEDs give it the richest color of any LED TV, and its Glare Free screen keeps the picture clean in bright rooms. The S95H, R85H and R95H are sold at our showrooms and on our website, and you won't find them on Amazon or other third-party sites. Compare it with the R85H in our R95H vs R85H guide.
Want OLED? Look at 83 inches
Samsung's OLEDs top out at 83 inches. If you watch mostly at night or in a dim room and want perfect blacks, the 83" S95H, S90H or S85H is the way to go. The S95H and S90H add Glare Free screens for brighter rooms. See S90H vs S95H and S85H vs S90H.
Is 85 inches too big?
Usually not. With 4K, a comfortable viewing distance is about 1.5 times the screen size, so about 10.5 feet for an 85". Most living rooms seat people 9 to 12 feet from the TV. An 85" TV is about 74 inches wide, so measure your wall and any furniture it sits on. See our TV size guide.
